SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI: The "Super Intelligence" Rename
On October 4, 2026, Mr. Musk said SpaceXAI would become SpaceXSI and gave no date. On October 19, @spacexai was not found and @SpaceXSI displayed as SpaceX Super Intelligence. A company blog post of the change was not retrieved.
On October 4, 2026, Mr. Musk said the SpaceXAI name would change to SpaceXSI. The posts do not give a date. A check on October 19 found an organization account at @SpaceXSI whose display name is SpaceX Super Intelligence, and no account at @spacexai. That is what the profiles returned. It is not a certificate of amendment, and it is not a product rename for Grok.
The models and the company hub are xAI and Grok and xAI. The February combination is xAI joins SpaceX. Orbital compute is Starmind. Anthropic’s use of SpaceX capacity is a different deal: Claude compute.
The posts
At 08:40 UTC on October 4, 2026, Mr. Musk posted:
No more AI SI It’s better
At 08:45 UTC, @XFreeze replied:
@elonmusk Any possibility of renaming to SpaceXSI??
At 09:07 UTC, Mr. Musk replied:
@XFreeze Yes, we will make that change
Label: Primary for those sentences. “We will” is future tense. The reply does not say when, and it does not say whether the change is a display name, a handle, a product, a website, or a legal entity. @XFreeze’s question is a suggestion. Writing “SpaceXSI” in that question is not, by itself, the change.
Indian Express (updated October 7, 2026) reports the reply and says he did not provide further details on the rebrand. Fox Business (Bonny Chu, October 4, 2026) reports the same posts. Fox also prints a $1.25 trillion figure for the SpaceX acquisition of xAI, and it says a SpaceXAI unit was created in July. The prospectus dates the xAI acquisition to February 2, 2026, and it does not print those Fox figures. They are not used here.
A Reuters story dated October 4, at the URL for “Musk says he will rename SpaceXAI SpaceXSI,” returned 401. This page does not adopt an unread sentence from that story about the account’s name on that day, or about a timeline.
The order, and the speech before it
The White House page Inaugurating the Era of Super Intelligence, dated September 29, 2026, is an executive order. The page’s download is labeled eo-14434. The Federal Register listing is EO 14434, signed September 29, 2026, published October 2, 2026, at 91 FR 63129, document number 2026-20321.
Section 1 says that, to the maximum extent permitted by law, the executive branch shall use “Super Intelligence” and “SI” in place of “Artificial Intelligence” and “AI,” and will not acknowledge the usage of “Artificial Intelligence” and “AI” in any applicable setting. Section 2 applies that to official correspondence, public communications, websites, reports, policy documents, and other non-statutory documents. It does not require alteration of previously issued regulations, presidential actions, contracts, grants, or other historical documents. Section 3 says that, for purposes of the order, and except where otherwise provided by law, “Super Intelligence” and “SI” mean the technologies encompassed by “artificial intelligence” as defined in 15 U.S.C. § 9401(3). Within 60 days the Assistant to the President for Science and Technology is to propose legislative language for a federal definition.
Label: The order. It binds the executive branch, to the extent the law allows. It does not order a private company to rename a product or an account.
The speech that used the phrase in public is earlier. The Miller Center’s transcript of the September 22, 2026 address to the United Nations General Assembly, which the page sources to the White House, has him saying that United States documents, “and hopefully the world,” will use “the much more accurate term super as opposed to artificial. So it’s super intelligence.”
Label: A transcript of the address. It is not the order. Indian Express quotes a matching line from the General Assembly speech. The order is the September 29 document.
What the accounts showed on October 19
A direct fetch of x.com returns 403. Profiles were read through fxtwitter on October 19, 2026.
api.fxtwitter.com/spacexai returned 404, “User not found.” The same endpoint for SpaceXSI returned an account:
- Screen name SpaceXSI, display name SpaceX Super Intelligence
- Joined May 25, 2023
- Website shown as x.ai
- An organization verification
- About 2.08 million followers, the count the profile returned that day
Label: The profile as fxtwitter returned it. A 404 on the old handle means that endpoint did not find @spacexai. It does not, by itself, prove a redirect. The join date is the date on the SpaceXSI profile. This desk did not retrieve a company post that says the handle changed on a named day.
A separate account, @xai, returned a profile that joined July 6, 2026, is protected, and whose description reads “Now at @SpaceXAI.” Label: That bio, as returned. The mention text still says SpaceXAI. It is a different account from @SpaceXSI, and a stale mention is not a finding that the old handle still resolves.
The same check found @TeslaSI displaying as Tesla Super Intelligence, and no user at @Tesla_AI. Label: Those two profile results. They are not a Tesla filing, and they are not the SpaceXSI account.
Fetches of x.ai and spacex.ai returned Cloudflare challenges. This desk did not read a copyright line, a product name, or a legal-entity name on either site.
What is still not a legal-name change
The October 4 posts are a promise to make a change, without a date. The October 19 profile is a handle and a display name. Neither is a restated certificate, and neither says Grok’s name has changed.
One company sentence does use the new words. SpaceX’s October 16, 2026 results-date release describes the company as building infrastructure “across space, connectivity, and Super Intelligence.” Label: Boilerplate in that release. It is not a rename of the legal entity, and it is not the third-quarter results. Those results are scheduled for October 20 and are not out. The listing record is the IPO page.
Fan accounts can write “SpaceXSI” without that being the company. @XFreeze’s October 4 question is the example already in the record. Later fan usage is still usage. The organization profile above is the account check. It is the part that is not a fan caption.
On the map
xAI is the company hub. Grok is the product lane. Starmind is the orbital-compute page. Anthropic and Claude compute is the capacity deal, not this name. The February post is xAI joins SpaceX. The parent company is SpaceX.
