Tesla's Q3 2026 Report on Oct. 21: What Is Already on the Record
Tesla has published third-quarter production, deliveries, and storage, and it has set the results call for October 21. The financial results are not out. Forecasts stay labeled as forecasts.

Tesla has said when the third-quarter report lands, and it has already published production, deliveries, and storage. It has not published the quarter’s revenue, profit, or cash. This page stops at the record that exists on October 18, 2026. The results page is a later job.
This page is the receipt. It sits on the Tesla hub.
What the October 2 release counts
Tesla’s investor-relations release, dated October 2, 2026, from Austin, is also Exhibit 99.1 to the Form 8-K. The two texts match on the table.
| Production | Deliveries | |
|---|---|---|
| Model 3/Y | 457,387 | 478,237 |
| Other models | 7,004 | 8,295 |
| Total | 464,391 | 486,532 |
Energy storage deployments: 13.7 GWh. The release says vehicle production and delivery numbers are passenger vehicles sold to customers, and that a column for vehicles subject to operating-lease accounting is 1% of the total, 1% of Model 3/Y, and 4% of other models.
The same release says net income and cash flow come with the rest of the financial performance, and that deliveries and storage “should not be relied on as an indicator of quarterly financial results,” which also depend on average selling price, cost of sales, foreign exchange, and other items in the 10-Q.
Label: Confirmed as the release and the exhibit. 464,391 and 486,532 are the totals in the table. “Over 464,000” and “over 486,000” are the prose lines above the table. They are the same release, rounded.
When the results are scheduled
Both the release and the exhibit say Tesla will post third-quarter 2026 financial results after market close on Wednesday, October 21, 2026. Management will hold a question-and-answer webcast that day at 4:30 p.m. Central Time / 5:30 p.m. Eastern Time. The update and the live webcast are listed at ir.tesla.com. An archive is to follow about two hours after the Q&A.
Label: Confirmed as the company’s schedule. A date is not a result. Nothing on this page is a revenue figure, a margin, or an earnings-per-share number from that report, because the report is not out.
CNBC (Lora Kolodny, October 2, 2026) says the 486,532 deliveries were about 2% below 497,099 a year earlier and up from 480,126 in the second quarter. CNBC says analysts were expecting around 461,100 deliveries, according to StreetAccount, and that Tesla’s own compiled consensus, published that Tuesday, was 461,974. CNBC says Model 3 and Model Y were 98% of deliveries. The table’s 478,237 of 486,532 is the finer split. CNBC also says storage was 12.5 GWh a year earlier and 13.5 GWh the prior quarter, and that Tesla does not clearly define “deployment.”
Label: The year-ago delivery, the second-quarter delivery, and the two consensus figures are CNBC’s account. They are not lines in the Tesla release this desk opened.
The October 18 valuation claim
On October 18, 2026, at 05:01 UTC, replying to @Teslaconomics, Mr. Musk wrote:
Optimus and Cybercab will be the vast majority of Tesla’s value.
The only things that will scale to incredible size (K2 and beyond) economically are super intelligence, robots, solar power and mass to space.
And, of course, if you have the first two, the rest will follow.
But Roadster is super cool, so we’re doing it anyway.
Label: Claim. It is a valuation sentence the day before a results date, not guidance, and not a share count. “K2” is his term. The post does not define it. Reading it as a Kardashev scale is an interpretation. Benzinga (Rounak Jain, October 18, 2026) quotes the “vast majority” sentence and the scale list, and says the third-quarter report is after the close on October 21. Benzinga’s page says the article was partly produced with AI tools and reviewed by editors. The post is the text. The Roadster half of the last sentence is also on the claims log.
Analyst view, before the print
S&P Global Market Intelligence (Disha Mandavia, October 15, 2026; the page says it was published by Visible Alpha, not by S&P Global Ratings) expects revenue and earnings to edge lower despite the delivery beat. The report is due October 21. Visible Alpha’s consensus, as that article prints it:
| What S&P / Visible Alpha printed | Label |
|---|---|
| Deliveries of 486,532 beat a Visible Alpha consensus of 469,000. Production 464,391. Deliveries down 2.1% year over year | Analyst comparison, using Tesla’s counts |
| Third-quarter revenue $28.04 billion, down 0.2% from a year earlier and 0.7% from the previous quarter | Forecast. Not a result |
| Adjusted diluted earnings per share 44 cents, down 11.8% from the prior-year period | Forecast. Not a result |
| Energy storage 13.7 GWh, up 9.6% from the prior-year period | Their description of Tesla’s 13.7 GWh figure |
Label: Analyst view. These rows are expectations published before the report. They are not Tesla’s revenue or earnings. CNBC’s StreetAccount figure of about 461,100 deliveries, and Tesla’s compiled 461,974, are a different consensus from Visible Alpha’s 469,000. Do not average them into one “the” estimate.
What to watch
Questions for the October 21 update. Not predictions.
- What the shareholder letter actually reports for profit, cash, and automotive margin. Tesla’s October 2 release says deliveries and storage are not that report.
- Whether the letter says anything new about Robotaxi service, cities, or hours. The open record is Robotaxi and the school-zone petition.
- Whether it separates Optimus as a target, a build, or a deployed robot. The ladder is on Optimus. The October 18 “vast majority” sentence is a claim either way.
- Whether Cybercab shows up as a delivered product, a certification note, or a future line. Robotaxi is the product page. The certification audit AQ26002 is on the school-zone page, and it is not this earnings release.
- Whether the letter moves the Roadster off the 2028 claim or past the “super cool” aside on the claims log.
- Whether any sentence is a Tesla–SpaceX combination. Merger talk is the current record. A results release is not a deal.
On the map
The company is Tesla. The October 15 demo is the Roadster reveal. The post-reveal sentences are the claims log. Robotaxi, the school-zone petition, and Optimus are the robot pages the October 21 letter might touch. This page does not close any of them.
