The Roadster Claims Log: What Mr. Musk Has Said Since the Reveal

Post-reveal Roadster sentences from Mr. Musk, labeled as claims. Tesla's page has no kilonewton thrust figure. The 2028 date and the reservations stay where the reveal page left them.

The October 15, 2026 demo is on the Roadster reveal page. This page is the log of what Mr. Musk has said since. A sentence on X is not a window sticker, and a quote-post is not a lab report.

This page is the receipt. It sits on the Tesla hub.

“Sentient,” and a track at the Texas HQ

On October 17, 2026, at 07:12 UTC, Mr. Musk replied to @Scobleizer:

True.

You will be able to ask the Roadster to perform any of the tricks shown autonomously, as it will be sentient.

Also, we will have a wild looping track (crazier even than Hot Wheels) at our Texas HQ where you can test out your Roadster.

The post he was answering, from October 16 at 05:19 UTC, says the driver is not driving the car. “You are driving a computer and it is telling another computer how to drive the car. It is steer by wire. Brake by wire. Accelerate by wire.” It also calls that “SI, formerly known as AI.” Label: “True.” is the first word of his reply to that post. The autonomous-tricks sentence, the word “sentient,” and the looping track are the next sentences. All three are Claim. They are not a Tesla specification, a software release note, or a construction permit for a track.

Tesla’s product page, fetched October 18, does say the yoke “is designed specifically for steer by wire.” That is a product-page line about the control layout. It is not a confirmation that the car will run the demo tricks by itself.

Faster than a carrier launch, as a sentence

On October 18, 2026, at 15:16 UTC, Mr. Musk quote-posted @XFreeze:

The new Tesla Roadster accelerates faster than a fighter jet taking off from an aircraft carrier

Label: Claim. The sentence is an acceleration comparison. It names no time, no speed, and no thrust. It is not a timed test.

The quoted post, @XFreeze at 08:04 UTC the same day, makes a different comparison. It says the Roadster “produces more thrust than an F-16 fighter jet at military power,” and it prints its own figures:

Roadster Thrust augment: >80 kN (~18,000 lbf)

F-16 with F100-PW-229: ~79.2 kN (~17,800 lbf) without afterburner

The same post says that with afterburner “the F-16 exceeds at ~130 kN.”

Label: Claim, and the kilonewton lines are @XFreeze’s. Mr. Musk’s post does not repeat them. tesla.com/roadster, fetched October 18, 2026, describes “advanced cold-gas thrusters” and, on the limited-release trim, “0-60 in under 1 second.” It does not publish a thrust in kilonewtons or in pounds-force. The greater-than-80 kN line is not a Tesla spec unless Tesla publishes it. This fetch did not find it.

Pratt & Whitney’s F100 page, fetched the same day, lists thrust of 29,160 pounds (129.7 kN). The F100-PW-229 product card lists that same thrust figure for the F100-PW-229 and names the F-16C/D among the military applications. The PDF carries a 2019 copyright. Neither document splits the number into afterburning and non-afterburning thrust. Neither prints 79.2 kN or 17,800 lbf.

Label: 29,160 pounds is the engine maker’s published thrust. It is not a Roadster measurement, and it is not a finding that the car out-accelerates a jet. @XFreeze’s ~79.2 kN “without afterburner” is not on those pages, so this desk does not adopt it. His ~130 kN sits near 129.7 kN. The card does not say “with afterburner,” and near is not a quotation.

“Super cool, so we’re doing it anyway”

On October 18, 2026, at 05:01 UTC, replying to @Teslaconomics, Mr. Musk wrote a valuation post whose last sentence is:

But Roadster is super cool, so we’re doing it anyway.

The sentences before that one are about Optimus, Cybercab, and what he says will make up Tesla’s value. They are on the Q3 pre-report page, quoted in full. Label: Claim. “Super cool” is a reason, not a delivery date and not a share of revenue.

2028, and the reservation table

Reuters, reprinted by Mint (Abhirup Roy and Mrinmay Dey, dateline October 15, published October 16), says Tesla “would start production in 2028” and that Mr. Musk said so. The reveal page records the same date from Reuters, CNBC, WIRED, The Verge, and TechCrunch, and it keeps the missed dates that came before. Label: Claimed. A year on a microphone is not a factory schedule. This page does not repeat that history.

Reservations are a separate fact. The U.S. reservation page, fetched October 18, 2026, showed $5,000 due today, marked fully refundable, and $45,000 due within 10 days. The same page says a reservation is not final until payment is received. It describes a two-seat road-ready car, a two-seat augment with acceleration thrusters, and a one-seat augment with a full flight system. The static table this desk retrieved did not show a separate Thrust deposit. Reuters reported a $50,000 Performance deposit and a $250,000 Thrust deposit. Label: The $5,000 / $45,000 schedule is the table on the page this desk loaded. The $250,000 figure is Reuters. The reveal page already separates those two.

A reviewer’s reaction

On October 16, 2026, at 01:25 UTC, Marques Brownlee (@MKBHD) quote-posted a Tesla design note:

They really just got on stage and said this newly designed 4000+ pound car can do flips and go half the speed of sound (380+mph) and will ship in 2028. This is a prank, right?

The same day he published The NEW Tesla Roadster: My Honest Reaction (YouTube lists the publish date as October 16, 2026). In the video he calls the upside-down drive and the flip a pre-scripted demo, treats the fan system as the part with a handling purpose, calls the flip a party trick, notes that Tesla’s own page says the Rocket trim is not approved for public road use and is invite-only, and says he is not holding his breath for a 2028 ship date.

Label: Commentary. The “4,000+ pound,” “380+ mph,” and “prank” lines are his post. They are not a Tesla specification and not a measurement this desk made. A reviewer’s doubt is not a finding that the demo was fake. The reveal page is the account of what outlets reported seeing.

On the map

The demo, the trim table, the deposit split as outlets reported it, and the 2017-to-2026 delay stack are on the reveal page. The company is Tesla. The October 18 valuation sentence that ends with “super cool” is on the Q3 page. Nothing here is a merger agreement. That record is Tesla–SpaceX merger talk.
