The Rooftop Video Is Fake. It Took Five Days.
On October 20, 2026, an X post showed a Tesla Roadster flying off a city rooftop. Lead Stories fact-checked it and the Hive detector rated it 100 percent likely AI-generated. The real demo was October 15; the first convincing fake arrived October 20.

The real event is on the reveal page: a closed test site in McGregor, Texas, a curved ramp, a lineup of Tesla’s own vehicles, and a livestream Tesla published itself.
This page is about the other video — the one from the rooftop.
The fake
On October 20, 2026, an X account, @Stellarixorine, posted a clip captioned “Another rooftop. Another insane Tesla Roadster test,” showing a Roadster flying off the roof of a city building.
Lead Stories fact-checked the clip. The Hive AI detector rated it 100% likely AI-generated.
Label: Fabricated. The rating is the detector’s, the fact-check is Lead Stories’, and both are named here because a debunk that hides its method is just another claim.
Why it worked
The fake had everything going for it:
- A real event to impersonate. Five days earlier, Tesla really had flown a Roadster over a Semi on camera. A viewer who had seen the real kickflip had no visual reason to doubt a rooftop.
- A true caption shape. “Another test” is exactly what a second leak would look like.
- A meme already in circulation. AXENO’s “Movin’ To The Sun” — a music video of a car firing jets over rooftops — was already blurring the line for fun, and at least one AXENO-titled Short is cut from actual Tesla reveal footage. The joke and the event are cross-posting into each other; the fake walked through the same door. The atmosphere shelf is on the video index.
The desk rule this proves
Every Roadster clip now has to earn its place in the record: who filmed it, where is the original upload, does a second angle exist, and does it match the known facts of the real event — McGregor, the ramp, the lineup, the white car. The October 15 demo gave the fakers a template. Expect a fake for every future claim, arriving faster than this one did.
When in doubt, the primary record is Tesla’s own replay, chaptered and public. Anything more spectacular than the official film should be assumed to be selling something — starting with your attention.
