The Roadster Videos: The Official Film, the Engineers, and One Fake
A verified index of Roadster reveal videos as of October 23, 2026: Tesla's two official films, the Space.com short, MKBHD's reaction, and the engineering explainers — plus an AI-generated rooftop video that is not the car.
Every link on this page was checked on October 23, 2026. A video’s title is its maker’s claim, not this desk’s. What each video actually shows is labeled underneath it.
The event these videos cover is on the reveal page, beat by beat on the demo timeline page.
Official — Tesla’s own record
- Roadster Event — Tesla, YouTube. The full livestream replay. Chapters: Ramp Demo 6:03, Kickflip 10:56, 0–60 Demo 15:58. Label: Primary record of the night.
- Roadster | The Last Best Driver’s Car — Tesla, YouTube. The launch film. Tesla’s own copy claims suction holds the car upside down while stationary and the thrusters make micro-adjustments “in flight.” Label: Tesla’s claims, in Tesla’s film.
- Demo footage via Space.com / VideoFromSpace — “Wow! Tesla ‘Flying’ Roadster with SpaceX Thrusters.” Event footage, credited to Tesla. Label: Tesla footage, third-party wrapper.
Reaction
- MKBHD — “The NEW Tesla Roadster: My Honest Reaction” — October 16, 2026. Calls the flip a pre-scripted party trick, the fan system the real handling technology, and doubts the 2028 date. Label: Opinion, labeled as one by its maker.
- Joe Rogan clip — “Elon Musk Made Flying Car” — JRE #2404. Mr. Musk, before the demo, promising the Roadster would fly and be “unforgettable.” Label: The promise, on tape, before the fact.
The engineers — can it, and for how long?
Tesla That Can Fly! — A Short-styled explainer of the stunt itself: “From powerful suction to cold-gas thrusters, this incredible stunt combines autonomous driving with aerospace engineering.” Label: Third-party summary of the real demo — the suction and thruster description matches the record; the rocket emojis are its own.
“Tesla’s Flying Roadster Explained: Suction, Air Jets and a Lot of Hype” — Works through Tesla’s own clips, then does independent hover math: roughly 7–8 seconds total, about 1.5 seconds at the reported 80 kN.
“0 to 60 in 0.81 Seconds?” — An electrical engineer on the 4,700 kg downforce readout and the 5,500 psi cockpit screen, with the Rimac Nevera’s independently timed 1.74s as the benchmark.
“The Real Engineering Behind the Flying Tesla Roadster” — A controls engineer citing Tesla’s fan patent (US 12,377,920 B1); concludes the tanks cannot sustain 10 seconds of hovering.
“How the Tesla Roadster Drives Upside Down (No Thrusters)” — The fan-suction explainer, with the Brabham BT46B fan-car precedent. The lineage is on our fan car page.
“What Elon Didn’t Show You at the Tesla Roadster Event!” — The fine print: the invite-only Rocket trim, and a deposit agreement that does not guarantee delivery.
“Tesla Roadster: From Texas Prototype Demo to the 2028 Production Challenge” — The manufacturing and certification gap between a stunt and a customer car.
The atmosphere — and the fake
- AXENO — “Movin’ To The Sun” — A music Short: a crowd films a car, it fires jets and flies over rooftops, live saxophone over deep house. It is a music video, not a Tesla product — and it is the clip that sent this desk looking. Label: Art, not evidence.
- The rooftop fake. On October 20, 2026, an X post by @Stellarixorine (“Another rooftop. Another insane Tesla Roadster test”) showed a Roadster flying off a city building roof. Lead Stories fact-checked it; the Hive detector rated it 100% likely AI-generated. It is broken down on our fake video page. Label: Fabricated. Do not cite it as a test.
What is not on this page
There is no video of Yann LeCun — the thruster argument was text posts on X, and it is logged on the LeCun page. There is no video of Gov. DeSantis’s pledge — that was an X quote-post, logged on the street-legal page. Anyone selling you either clip is selling you a screen recording of a post.
