A committee total and a donor’s total are different lines. America PAC’s year-end summary prints the committee’s 2024 money. It does not, on that summary, print the name Elon Musk. A compiler’s donor table does. Those rows were not added together here, and the itemized schedule behind them was not the file this desk opened.
The 2026 filings are the September quarter. The daily $1 million petition payments are the giveaway suits. The April 2025 Wisconsin report is a state form. This page is the 2024 federal summary.
What’s confirmed
The year-end Form 3X
The FEC disclosure form for America PAC, filing 1872971, is a Form 3X year-end report. The committee address is P.O. Box 341027, Austin, Texas 78734. The form says the committee has not qualified as a multicandidate committee. It was filed January 31, 2025. The period on the cover is November 26, 2024, through December 31, 2024. The treasurer line says Chris Young, signed January 31, 2025.
Column B is the calendar year. The lines this desk read:
| Line | What the form calls it | Column B |
|---|---|---|
| 11(a)(i) | Itemized contributions from individuals | $261,527,010.67 |
| 11(a)(ii) | Unitemized contributions from individuals | $20.00 |
| 11(a)(iii) and 11(d) | Total contributions | $261,527,030.67 |
| 15 | Offsets to operating expenditures | $1,967,618.00 |
| 19 | Total receipts | $263,494,648.67 |
| 21(b) | Other federal operating expenditures | $87,537,003.78 |
| 23 | Contributions to federal candidates and other political committees | $0.00 |
| 24 | Independent expenditures | $173,734,996.50 |
| 7 and 31 | Total disbursements | $261,272,000.28 |
| 8 | Cash on hand at the close | $2,222,648.39 |
Adding the contributions line, $261,527,030.67, to the offsets line, $1,967,618.00, is this desk’s check that they equal the receipts line. Adding the independent-expenditure line to the other-federal-operating-expenditures line is this desk’s check that they equal the disbursements line. The form prints each of those lines. It does not print the additions.
Cash on hand at the beginning of the reporting period, which is Column A and not the calendar-year total, is $2,052,889.48. Debts owed to the committee and debts owed by the committee are both $0.00.
Label: The year-end summary. Receipts are not disbursements. Independent expenditures are one line inside disbursements, not a second spending total. The $0.00 on line 23 is the form’s figure for contributions to federal candidates and other political committees. It is not a statement that the committee spent nothing. The cash figures are the form’s. This summary does not name a donor.
What a donor table displays, and what was not opened
Schedule A for filing 1872971 returned 403. This desk did not read the itemized receipts.
OpenSecrets’ donor table for America PAC, committee C00879510, says individual donors gave 61 contributions of $200 or more in the 2023–2024 cycle. The rows in the text this desk read that name Musk are:
| Date on that table | Amount on that table |
|---|---|
| November 25, 2024 | $40,495,178 |
| September 5, 2024 | $30,000,000 |
| October 18, 2024 | $25,000,000 |
| October 31, 2024 | $25,000,000 |
| October 25, 2024 | $25,000,000 |
| August 20, 2024 | $15,000,000 |
| October 15, 2024 | $14,700,000 |
| December 31, 2024 | $11,215,136 |
| October 4, 2024 | $11,000,000 |
| October 9, 2024 | $10,000,000 |
| October 11, 2024 | $7,900,000 |
| August 6, 2024 | $7,500,000 |
| August 5, 2024 | $7,500,000 |
| July 10, 2024 | $5,000,000 |
| July 3, 2024 | $5,000,000 |
| July 18, 2024 | $4,950,000 |
| November 12, 2024 | $4,000,000 |
The same stretch of the table prints a December 31, 2024 line of $11,215,136 for United States of America Inc, Austin, Texas 78705, with the occupation cell blank. That is the same dollar figure as the December 31 Musk line, on a different row. The fetch ended at a Suzanne C. DeVos row of $500,000 dated October 7, 2024. Rows after that cutoff were not in the text.
Label: OpenSecrets’ display, not the Form 3X this desk opened. The employer cell on the Musk rows is Space Exploration Technologies Corp., with the punctuation varying by row. This desk did not add the Musk rows. The page does not, in the portion read, print a single Musk total. This desk did not decide whether the December 31 company line is a second gift or an attribution of the Musk line. Schedule A is the document that would show a memo mark. It was not opened.
Claims and open questions
A figure of about $290 million for 2024, given to reporters and already recorded on the 2026 donations page, is what representatives told CNBC. It is not a line on the Form 3X above. The two were not substituted for each other.
The OpenSecrets rows are not a substitute for Schedule A. A total produced by adding those rows would be this desk’s arithmetic on a truncated compiler page. It is not printed here.
Line 23’s zero is contributions to candidates and committees. Line 24’s independent expenditures are the form’s other category. A reader who wants “how much America PAC gave to candidates” has the zero. A reader who wants “how much it spent independently” has $173,734,996.50. Those are the form’s labels.
On the map
The September 2026 itemized lines are the midterm page. The 2024 petition payments, and the October 2026 settlement notices, are the giveaway cases. Wisconsin’s spring 2025 pre-election report is the state form. None of this is a DOGE action. The politics hub is the section.
