Mr. Musk Posted "Talarico Hates Texas" the Day Before Early Voting.
On October 18, 2026, Mr. Musk quote-posted a four-line presentation of James Talarico and wrote "Talarico hates Texas." Texas early voting for the November 3 election starts October 19. The four lines were not checked against a transcript.

On October 18, 2026, at 17:00 UTC, Mr. Musk quote-posted @KanekoaTheGreat and wrote four words: “Talarico hates Texas.” The quoted post says early voting in Texas starts the next day. The Texas Secretary of State lists the first day of early voting by personal appearance for the November 3, 2026 uniform election as Monday, October 19. The four lines the quoted post attributes to James Talarico are that account’s presentation. This desk did not verify them against a Talarico transcript.
This page is the receipt. It sits on the politics desk. The September filings are a different page: midterm money.
What Mr. Musk wrote
The post, 17:00 UTC, is the sentence “Talarico hates Texas.” It quotes the post below. It does not add a date, a race, or a source.
Label: Primary for those four words. It is his characterization. It is not a finding about James Talarico, and it is not a line on a campaign-finance report.
What the quoted post presented
At 16:26 UTC the same day, @KanekoaTheGreat posted, with a video attached:
James Talarico, in his own words:
“God is non-binary.”
“In fact, there are six” biological sexes.
What he calls women: “neighbors with a uterus.”
Parents who deny a child’s gender identity: “abusive for sure.”
Early voting starts tomorrow, Texas.
Label: Primary for what that account posted. The heading “in his own words,” the two glosses (“What he calls women,” “Parents who deny a child’s gender identity”), and the decision to put the four fragments in one list are the account’s presentation. A video is attached. This desk did not treat the video as a transcript, and it did not open a Texas House transcript.
“Early voting starts tomorrow” is the account’s sentence. October 18 to October 19 matches the Secretary of State’s calendar, below. The post does not name the office on the ballot.
What this desk could and could not check
The four fragments were not read off a transcript or a hearing video. Other sources this desk did open print longer remarks that contain the same words. Those sources date the remarks. The October 18 post does not.
| Line in the October 18 post | What an opened source prints | Label |
|---|---|---|
| “God is non-binary.” | On October 15, 2021, James Talarico posted: “I told them in my faith, God is non-binary.” The Texas Tribune (Kayla Guo, March 12, 2026) reports that he said “God is nonbinary” on the Texas House floor in 2021, inside “God is both masculine and feminine, and everything in between.” | His 2021 post is primary for that sentence about what he had said. The Tribune’s spelling has no hyphen. This desk did not open a floor transcript |
| “In fact, there are six” biological sexes. | The Tribune quotes: “Modern science obviously recognizes that there are many more than two biological sexes — in fact, there are six.” It says that was April 2021, in a committee video this desk did not play | Reported by the Tribune. The video page returned 200. It was not watched |
| “neighbors with a uterus.” | Fox News (Peter Pinedo and Paul Steinhauser, March 5, 2026) quotes a longer remark it places after the 2022 reversal of Roe: “Every one of our neighbors with a uterus became the property of the State.” | Reported by Fox News. The account’s heading, “What he calls women,” is not in that sentence |
| “abusive for sure.” | Fox News (Leo Briceno, September 14, 2026) quotes a 2019 committee remark on HB 1910: “I think there are some folks that would think that if you deny your child’s gender identity, that’s incredibly harmful. And whether or not we label it with the term abuse, it’s abusive for sure.” | Reported by Fox News. The account’s heading is its summary of that sentence. This desk did not open the 2019 hearing record |
Label: The October 18 list is the quoted account’s presentation. Pieces of it match longer remarks that his own 2021 post, the Tribune, and Fox News have already put in print. That is not the same as a transcript check, and it is not a check that the video’s edit preserves those sentences.
The calendar the post was pointing at
The Texas Secretary of State’s important election dates for the Tuesday, November 3, 2026 uniform election list the first day of early voting by personal appearance as Monday, October 19, 2026, and the last day as Friday, October 30, 2026.
Secretary Robert Howden’s October 16, 2026 release says early voting for the November 3 general election begins Monday, October 19, and continues through Friday, October 30. The release is about a registration total, 19,041,684. The dates are the sentence that matches the post.
Label: Confirmed as the Secretary of State’s calendar and the October 16 release. The posts went up on October 18, the day before that start. The release does not mention Mr. Musk or James Talarico.
On the map
This is one quote-post and the early-voting calendar it landed on. The money is a different record. Mr. Musk’s 2026 midterm filings show the September FEC lines, and they record that CBS, CNBC, and the BBC describe Texas PAC spending for Ken Paxton and against James Talarico. That page does not include this post. DOGE is not this. The politics hub is the section.
