Orbit Dashboard: 35,462 Objects Are Tracked in Earth Orbit Today
The daily count of everything tracked in Earth orbit — 20,435 payloads (17,437 active), 15,027 rocket bodies and debris — with a live map plotting 10,629 Starlink satellites, from CelesTrak and US Space Force catalog data.

This page is rebuilt from the catalog every day. The headline counts come from CelesTrak’s SATCAT Boxscore, which republishes the US Space Force catalog maintained by the 18th Space Defense Squadron. The map below is computed live in your browser from current tracking element sets — the same kind of data the catalog itself publishes.
The count, 2026-11-02
| On orbit | Decayed (all time) | Total cataloged | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Payloads (satellites and station modules) | 20,435 | 7,765 | 28,200 |
| Rocket bodies and debris | 15,027 | 28,001 | 43,028 |
| Everything tracked | 35,462 | 35,766 | 71,228 |
Of the 20,435 payloads on orbit, the catalog marks 17,437 active. The rest are dead satellites that have not come down yet — they stay on this count until they reenter.
Label: Primary — CelesTrak SATCAT Boxscore, current as of 2026 November 1, read 2026-11-02.
Live map: every Starlink, plotted now
The dots below are not a picture. They are positions computed from the current Starlink two-line element sets (10,629 objects plotted; 11,156 Starlink element sets are current in the GP data, latest epoch 2026-11-02 — the difference is the newest satellites, published in the newer data format first) plus the 16 space-station objects with published element sets, propagated in your browser. Starlink alone is 54.6% of all payloads on orbit — one company’s constellation, visible as a shell around the planet.

Who owns what is up there
The ten largest sources in the catalog, by objects on orbit (owner codes are the catalog’s own):
| Source | Payloads on orbit | Rocket bodies & debris on orbit | All on orbit |
|---|---|---|---|
| US | 13,976 | 4,690 | 18,666 |
| CIS | 1,706 | 4,948 | 6,654 |
| PRC | 1,663 | 4,544 | 6,207 |
| UK | 726 | 1 | 727 |
| FR | 130 | 517 | 647 |
| JPN | 249 | 91 | 340 |
| IND | 122 | 77 | 199 |
| TBD | 168 | 15 | 183 |
| ITSO | 100 | 49 | 149 |
| ESA | 114 | 19 | 133 |
Label: Primary — same Boxscore. “US” includes every American operator public and private, which is why one company’s share needs the Starlink tracker to see clearly.
The last 30 days of launches
CelesTrak’s last-30-days element-set group holds 220 objects from launches in the past month, 81 of them Starlink. The biggest designators:
- 2026-245 — 2 objects; first cataloged name: NVS-03 (IRNSS-1L). Label: CelesTrak GP, last-30-days group, checked 2026-11-02.

What fell down
97 cataloged objects reentered in the last 30 days, 47 of them Starlink. The decay watch keeps the running list — including the 100 objects whose current element sets already show them decaying.
What this count does not include
- Small debris. The catalog tracks objects roughly 10 cm and larger in low orbit. NASA and ESA models estimate far more untracked fragments — on the order of a million objects between 1 and 10 cm. Label: Model estimate (NASA/ESA), not a catalog count. Nobody can plot those; anyone who shows you a map of them is showing you a model.
- Classified objects with no public element sets. The public catalog is the public catalog. Counts here are counts of what is published.
- Anything beyond Earth orbit. The Roadster is not in this catalog’s working set. It has its own page.

This page regenerates daily. If a number here disagrees with a number you saw quoted elsewhere, the first question is which catalog, on which date — counts move every single day.
